Alphonso Davies is confident that Bayern Munich can soon lift the Champions League title.
The season has come to a sudden halt for Bayern Munich due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic across the globe. It has been more than a month since Die Roten played their last competitive game.
The suspension of competitive football came at a wrong time for the Bavarians as they were in good form and looking good in all competitions. Earlier this week, players returned to training at Sabner Strasse and started working on fitness in small groups.
There are still doubts about the Champions League campaign and how it is going to be played out when the situation improves. Die Roten will be gutted if the CL is abandoned this season as they were looking in a good position to go deep in the competition.
Alphonso Davies has been one of the key reasons behind Rekordmeister’s recent good form. Speaking to ESPN, Davies admitted that Bayern are in a good position to win the competition if UEFA decides to finish the tournament in the next few months.
"“I really feel that with the quality have we can win the Champions League.”“Obviously it is not going to be easy. There are still a lot of good opponents in front of us that we have to get past. Each and every day we have that in the back of our minds, that this year could be the year that we win the Champions League again.”"

Bayern had been struggling in knockout rounds of the Champions League in the last few seasons. Last season they hit a new low as Liverpool knocked out Die Roten in the round of 16. The hapless performance at Allianz Arena was worrying. Manuel Neuer‘s agent even questioned the club’s ambition in summer and insisted that they are not one of the elite teams in Europe.
However, this year Die Roten has managed to deliver their best performances in the Champions League. The defending German champions clinched an emphatic 7-2 win away at Tottenham Hotspurs in the group stage. They went on to top the group by winning all six games.
In the first leg of the round of 16, Rekordmeister delivered an emphatic performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They effectively have one foot in the quarterfinals as it will take something special from Chelsea to overturn a 3-0 deficit away from home. Davies was one of the standout players in the game against the London based club.
The Canadian winger also had special praise for Hansi Flick during this interview. He insisted that the German manager allows players freedom on the pitch along with implementing his tactics. Flick was rewarded with a two-year extension last week after impressing during the interim tenure.
