Efficient management of big squad

It has been another typical season for Bayern on the injury front. Niklas Sule suffered a serious knee injury in October that kept him out for six months. Lucas Hernandez also had a start-stop campaign due to different injuries.

In the midfield, there were not many injury concerns as all midfielders were fit for most of the season. Kingsley Coman had another big injury this season as he missed games in December. Robert Lewandowski was about to be out for a month after suffering an injury against Chelsea.

Most of these injuries were unfortunate, but one thing Die Roten can surely avoid is muscle-related injuries next season by managing the big squad. Rekordmeister currently has many options in midfield and defense, so there is a scope of balanced rotation. The attacking department will be reinforced in summer, and good attackers are coming up from the academy.

The biggest thorn in Die Roten’s run in European competition has been injuries. Bayern has been without key players for important knockout games in the Champions League. Flick will have to come up with a better plan to use all players in the squad and have them fit and ready for a long campaign. Minor knocks are part and parcel of a season, so that is not an issue. Dodging serious injuries will help Die Roten to have a strong and consistent campaign.
