Right amount of rotation

A fixed starting lineup was one of the main reasons behind Flick’s success at Bayern in the past four months. He was clever enough to identify his best XI from available players and build good chemistry amongst those players. Consistency in team selection made sure that performances and results were consistent.

Flick’s main focus during this time was to make sure that immediate results are in Die Roten’s favour. He didn’t make huge changes during mid-week games and played as many possible first-choice players in every game. This approach helped him to tackle an injury crisis in the defensive department during January and December.

More from Bayern Strikes

However, things will change after becoming a permanent manager. Flick will have to find the right balance in rotation to avoid fatigue and injuries. Most importantly, he will be able to keep a good atmosphere in the dressing room by giving all players a decent amount of playing time.

Flick will have to give fringe players the right amount of opportunities to impress him and give healthy competition to first-choice players. It doesn’t mean prioritizing one competition over others, but showing a little bit more faith in fringe players will be expected from him next season.
