Bayern Munich is still keeping a close eye on Timo Werner ahead of a busy summer transfer window.
The chatter around the summer transfer window is getting intense with every passing day. Since football is indefinitely suspended at the moment due to coronavirus pandemic, transfer plans of few clubs, including Bayern Munich, could change or remain on hold at the moment.
Die Roten wants to add quality in attack after failing to do that last summer. They have been heavily linked with Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, but there could be a new twist in search of new forward as per the latest reports from Germany.
Timo Werner‘s name is back on the table. According to Sport1, a move to Bayern for Werner cannot be excluded right now. Hansi Flick is a big fan of the German forward, which could eventually lead to his arrival in Bavaria. This report also insisted that there has not been any contact with RB Leipzig from interested clubs, but Werner is waiting for Die Roten’s reaction since he knows Flick likes him.
Sky Sports in Germany has given a similar update on Werner’s situation. The report from the German outlet insists that there is loose contact between Werner’s agent and Rekordmeister. Die Roten remains interested in Leroy Sane, but there is some skepticism in the club hierarchy about the player after he changed his agents.

Werner was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria last summer. Die Roten reportedly held intense discussions with his representatives before the end of the 2018/19 season, but an official bid never came from the club. Werner was left frustrated, and he eventually committed his future to Leipzig by signing a new deal.
Earlier this season, Hasan Salihamidzic admitted that Werner doesn’t suit their style of play, and Robert Lewandowski is a striker that is more suited to the brand of football they want to play. Since then, Werner has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.
There is no doubt that Werner is top class forward, and he can also do a job on the left flank. Die Roten could have got him for a much lesser transfer fee last season, as he was entering in the final year of the contract at Leipzig. Having said that, he will still command a lower fee than what Man City will demand for Sane.
Werner has been the second-best forward in the Bundesliga this season, behind Robert Lewandowski. He has the potential to be a successful player in Bavaria, but Sane looks a much better transfer now as the team is calling out for a traditional winger. Flick’s insistence and financial impact of coronavirus may force Die Roten to look at Werner again, though.
