Bayern Munich and Manchester City explore an audacious swap deal
Bayern Munich have reportedly explored the possibility of doing a high profile swap deal with Manchester City in summer.
At the moment, there is a feeling that the season has ended. No football action and loads of transfer rumours ahead of the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich is expected to be busy in summer, so they are being linked with numerous players every week.
The latest report suggests that Die Roten are exploring a deal to bring Leroy Sane from Manchester City at the expense of one of their star players. According to SportBild, Bayern Munich are considering including David Alaba in a swap deal for Sane.
Sport1 also claimed in Germany that Rekordmeister are open to doing a swap deal involving Sane and Alaba. Rekordmeister proposed this idea to Pini Zahavi, Alaba’s new agent, but the player is not interested in a move to England as per both reports. The Austrian full-back would rather prefer a move to Spain.
The report from Sport1 also revealed that Alaba has already rejected one contract offer from Die Roten, and Hansi Flick is desperate to keep the 27-year-old versatile defender. Alaba currently holds the cards since his contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

Alaba has been coy about his future in Bavaria for some time now. Since football games were suspended due to coronavirus pandemic, reports started emerging in Germany, suggesting that Alaba is looking for a move away from the club in summer.
The Austrian defender also decided to change agents as he appointed a high profile agent in Pini Zahavi. He has been heavily linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past. Die Roten were not eager to entertain deals for Alaba at that time, but they will be forced to do so this summer due to the contractual situation of the defender.
This swap deal will work for all parties. Die Roten get a terrific winger, while Man City get a top full-back. It is a too good and complicated deal to happen. If Rekordmeister decide to cash in for Alaba, then they need to hope that Barcelona and Real Madrid come up with big offers, or else there is no point allowing Alaba to leave.
Alaba has been one of Bayern’s consistent players this season. He has been moved in central defense due to an injury crisis, but he has fared well in this position. It will be a big blow for Die Roten if Alaba leaves in summer as he has a big role to play on and off the pitch in Bavaria.
