David Alaba switches agent amidst Bayern Munich exit talk
David Alaba has reportedly switched agents amidst reports hinting an exit from Bayern Munich in summer.
The transfer speculation surrounding Bayern Munich’s star defender David Alaba doesn’t look to recede. Alaba is reportedly exploring the chance to leave Bayern Munich in summer and join another top European club.
There are likely to be more reports linking Alaba with a move away from Bavaria as he has switched his agents. According to Sky Sports, the Austrian full-back has appointed Pini Zahavi as his new agent. SportBild’s Christian Falk also confirmed that both parties are working on reaching an agreement.
The appointment of Zahavi as Alaba’s new agent could be a bad sign for Die Roten as he is known for completing big transfers. Robert Lewandowski also decided to partner with Zahavi in 2018 when his future was uncertain, and he wanted a new challenge.
Since Bayern are yet to extend his contract, they have no other option to listen to offers for him in summer. Alaba has been tightlipped about his future in Bavaria. Speaking to GQ this week (via Bulinews), Alaba insisted that he is happy at Bayern, but he is ready for a new challenge.
"“I feel very comfortable in Munich. But I can basically imagine taking a different path.”“If I’ll do so or not will show at some point. I’m not concerned about that at the moment.”"

It will be a massive blow for Die Roten if Alaba leaves the club this summer. He has been a consistent player for Rekordmeister in the last ten years. Most importantly, he still has prime years of his career left as he will turn 28 in June.
Apart from his quality on the pitch, Alaba also has an important role to play in the dressing room. Die Roten are looking to build a squad that can help them in achieving sustained success. The younger players arriving at the club can settle well under the guidance of a senior player such as Alaba.
Bayern were able to reject interest for Lewandowski in 2018 as he had more years left on his contract. The German club will have to take a risk of rejecting offers and take next year to convince him that his long term future lies in Bavaria. Allowing Alaba to leave on a free transfer will be a much feasible option as Die Roten have other positions in the squad to address this summer.
Moreover, Alphonso Davies will continue to grow in the left-back position by the time Alaba leaves in 2021. The German champions will learn a harsh lesson from this scenario as they took longer to negotiate a new deal with their star defender. However, there is still scope to limit the damage control by showing a firm stance of not selling Alaba to a European rival this summer.
