Popularity in the dressing room

Kovac and Ancelotti lost the dressing room in their final months at the club. Weird team selections and change in tactics led to a rift between manager and players. To be fair, there were murmurs throughout the tenure of these two managers that players were not happy with one or the other thing.

Player power at a club always leads to toxicity, but that’s the way modern football works. Sacking the team in favour of the manager is not feasible for a club. Hansi Flick has nailed the man-management during the last four months, making sure that players are on his side.

More from Bayern Strikes

Flick has been sticking with a fixed starting XI, but he has been publicly supportive about fringe players. Players have also been praising him in public for the way he has been managing players since taking over the role in November.

There has been a stark improvement in players such as Jerome Boateng and Thiago Alcantara under Flick’s leadership. Since players are already on board with his ideas, there is unlikely to be any big fall out in the near future. Clever man-management is as important as tactical acumen to succeed at Bayern, so Flick emphatically ticks this box.
