Bayern Munich: Takeaways from the season till now
Kimmich becoming a midfield general
It has been a season where Bayern made positional changes for some of their key players in the squad. The arrival of Benjamin Pavard from Eintracht Frankfurt in summer allowed Die Roten to move Joshua Kimmich in the midfield. And boy! Kimmich has made this decision look like a masterstroke.
The German international has always insisted that he likes to play regularly in midfield. Bayern’s failure to signing a number six in summer turned to be the best news for Kimmich. He started the campaign as Die Roten’s first-choice number six.

Kimmich took no time to get used to this positional change. His skillset ticks all the boxes for this role. The German’s clever positioning helps him to be a step ahead of the opposition and provide the right type of shielding to back four. His lack of physical prowess is easily compensated by his immaculate game awareness.
On the ball, there were never doubts about Kimmich playing in midfield. His passing range allows Die Roten to dictate play and dominate teams with ease. Kimmich is the long term solution for Bayern in the number six role, and this campaign further established the fact that the German international will become the midfield general for Rekordmeister.
