Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Gremio’s young forward Pepe.

The football is suspended, but transfer rumours have hardly stopped. The leagues are likely to continue during summer as UEFA has postponed Euros to next summer. However, there is unlikely to be any change in the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich were big spenders last summer, and they are likely to continue that trend this year too.

Die Roten is expected to bolster their attacking department as last summer’s signings have hardly made a big impact. Ivan Perisic has struggled with form and injury, while Philippe Coutinho has been inconsistent throughout the campaign.

The big names have already been linked with a move to Bavaria, but you cannot rule out the club pulling out signing from nowhere. They have been good at signing some of the best young talents from across the globe in the last few seasons.

So, it is not a huge surprise that they have been linked with a move for Gremio’s Pepe. According to Globesporte (via Football Oranje), Die Roten is showing interest in Pepe. This report also insists that Rekordmeister will face stern competition from Ajax for this transfer.

More from Bayern Strikes

Pepe has featured on the left side of the attack for Gremio this season. His numbers for the current campaign are impressive as the 23-year-old forward has scored eight goals and created three other for his teammates. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to replicate this form if he gets a big move to Europe.

If Bayern signs Pepe, then he is unlikely to be the only attacking recruit this summer. The Brazilian may act as a complementary signing that will increase the quality of the depth of the current squad. However, it will be much better if Bayern looks for a left-footed right-winger as they don’t have a consistent player in that position.

Die Roten has been very good going forward in Europe this season. Robert Lewandowski‘s exploits have helped them to score a lot of goals. Serge Gnabry has also managed the burden of scoring goals in Europe. The Bavarians need one more outlet for goals, which will help in creating a balance in the front three.

I will not be very surprised if Die Roten goes ahead and sign someone like Pepe. He looks like a good option for goals. However, this transfer should not abandon their pursuit of Leroy Sane as they need at least two forwards to compete on all fronts next season.
