Bayern Munich has reportedly joined the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City in summer.

The summer transfer window is approaching quickly. Despite the suspension of football at the moment, the transfer rumours continue to circulate. Bayern Munich wants to improve its first team by adding young talent to the squad. The Bundesliga champions are reportedly eyeing a move for English football’s brightest talent to continue their squad building process.

According to Daily Mirror, Bayern Munich has joined the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City. The 16-year-old midfielder is tipped to leave Birmingham City in summer to take the next step in his rapid development.

Bellingham has been heavily linked with Die Roten’s arch-rivals, Borussia Dortmund. He was also spotted taking a tour of Manchester United’s training complex last week as the Red Devils are also eager to land him. Apart from these two clubs, Mirror insists that Chelsea will also compete with Rekordmeister for the teenager’s signature.

Birmingham City handed Bellingham his senior debut at the start of the 2019/20 campaign. He took very little time to establish himself as a regular in the starting lineup. The teenager is not fazed by the big stage as he continued to deliver consistent performances for his club this season.

More from Bayern Strikes

Bellingham primarily operates as a box to box midfielder, but he can also be deployed in a holding midfield role. At times this campaign, he has also played on the left and right flank. It is a no brainer for Die Roten to not try signing Bellingham. They have been trying to sign upcoming talent from England in the last 18 months. After failed bids for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Die Roten will be hoping to add Bellingham to the squad. They are also monitoring the progress of Arsenal’s teenage forward star Bukayo Saka.

From Bellingham’s perspective, a move to Bavaria is too soon for him unless he is guaranteed regular playing time. With the amount of depth in the midfield at Bayern, it will be very difficult for Bellingham to get regular minutes under his belt. I hate to say it, but a move to Borussia Dortmund is much more suitable for him as they can give him a considerable amount of playing time next season.

Rekordmiester can guarantee Bellingham’s signature if they decide to loan him back to Birmingham City for next season. This will not halt his progress. After playing two seasons in senior football, he will be ready to compete against stars in Bavaria.
