Bayern Munich is reportedly in contact with Thomas Tuchel to become the club’s next manager.

Things are going well for Bayern Munich on the pitch. The German club is motoring along in the Bundesliga after reclaiming the top spot in Ruckrunde. Despite the progress on the pitch, Die Roten still has a big decision to make in summer about their next manager.

Hansi Flick will play himself into contention if he continues to get positive results. The German manager will have to do well in the Champions League to further strengthen his case of doing the job on a permanent basis.

One name that will continue to be linked with a move to Bavaria until the club makes an announcement is Thomas Tuchel. The latest reports from France suggest that Die Roten is still exploring the possibility of appointing Tuchel as their next manager.

According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Bayern has been in contact with Tuchel for the managerial role. The French outlet insists that Paris-Saint Germain is already looking for a new manager. This report also said that Tuchel is feeling completely isolated at the French club.

More from Bayern Strikes

Apart from L’Equipe, Paris United also reported on the weekend that Rekordmeister is in talks with Tuchel. They go one step ahead by saying that 2019/20 will be Tuchel’s last season in Paris, irrespective of the club’s performances in Europe. This report also insists that Tuchel is eager to come back to Germany, but everyone in Bayern’s hierarchy is not completely sold on him.

Die Roten had reportedly tried to appoint Tuchel in 2017 when Carlo Ancelotti left the club midway through the season. However, Tuchel had already agreed to join PSG next season. The Bavarians went on to appoint Niko Kovac after an interim spell from Jupp Heynckes. The current situation is similar to that season. The only difference is that Flick can be an option for the permanent position.

Tuchel has won Ligue 1 with PSG, but performances in the Champions League have been poor. The French club were knocked out of the competition by Manchester United last season. They currently trail Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, raising further doubts about his long term future in Paris.

Many factors will influence Die Roten’s final decision. Flick is loved by players, and he is getting the best out of all players. It will be a tough decision to part ways with him if he wins silverware this season. Tuchel is a very good candidate for this role, but his flaws and Flick’s brilliance may act as the hurdle between him and the managerial job in Bavaria.
