Flick’s team selection and game management

One of the key reasons behind Bayern’s success in 2020 has been due to consistent team selection made by Flick. However, games are going to come thick and fast from now, so he will have to rotate the squad to keep the consistency in the team’s performances.

The German manager currently has a plethora of options in every department. Kingsley Coman has returned from injury, while Javi Martinez is also close to completing his recovery from a muscular injury he suffered against Wolfsburg in December.

More from Bayern Strikes

Flick will have to maintain a good balance in his lineup even after heavily rotating the starting XI. He will have to make some changes to the lineup ahead of the round of 16 game against Chelsea on Tuesday. The German manager will have to keep the spine of the team consistent, but make changes around them.

Apart from rotating the starting XI, Flick will also have to be smart with his in-game management. If Bayern has the game in the pocket during the first half, he will have to manage the playing time of important players such as Thiago Alcantara and Robert Lewandowski. Accumulation of games can lead to muscular injuries, so Flick’s team selection and game management will be under close watch on Friday.
