Use a three-man defense

Apart from packing the midfield, Die Roten can also shuffle their back four to play two strikers upfront. Lucas Hernandez made his return against RB Leipzig on Sunday, so there is one more option in central defense.

Flick can stick with Hernandez as the main center back while Jerome Boateng and David Alaba play on the right and left side of him. Benjamin Pavard can also play in Boateng’s position while Alvaro Odriozola slots in the right wingback role. On the left side, Alphonso Davies will patrol the flank. Odriozola and Davies will provide a different dimension in the final third as they have a great eye for a pass or delivery in the box.

More from Bayern Strikes

Die Roten can play two central midfielders with a number ten just behind the two strikers. The wingbacks will have an extra bit of freedom to venture forward and support the attack. When the pushing forward, the team will have a four-man attack, including the wingbacks.

However, the major problem in this formation is that there is very little scope of rotation in defense. The majority of the back five will have to play numerous games in a row. In terms of balance on the pitch, this system surely suits the current Bayern squad.
