Philippe Coutinho once again heaps praise on Hansi Flick as Bayern Munich extended their unbeaten run against RB Leipzig.

Bayern Munich struggled during the first half of the season. There were some incredible highs, but some embarrassing lows too. Niko Kovac left the club after a 5-1 drubbing against Eintracht Frankfurt, and Hansi Flick was handed the job of managing the first team.

Flick made an immediate impact as Bayern went on a roll in the league. Apart from a couple of setbacks at the start of December, Die Roten has been astute tactically under him. These performances eventually helped him to land the job on an interim basis.

Flick still had to improve some aspects of his management going into the winter break. He took this break as an opportunity to improve the team’s dynamics on the pitch. As a consequence of his hard work, Rekordmeister started the Ruckrunde in the best possible way.

Players love Flick as they continue to praise him publicly. After backing Flick to get the job in summer, Philippe Coutinho now admits that the team is steadily improving under the German manager. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Coutinho also spoke about the intensity and competitive nature of the Bundesliga.

"“Flick is working so hard, and thanks to him the team is playing well and that’s what’s most important. We had a slow start, but now we’re at a good place.”“This is a complicated league, difficult with many teams fighting for the top, but we’re doing well. We’re eager to win it for the fans and to continue like this. We have to take it match by match and step by step.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Die Roten reclaimed the top spot in the league after ending 2019 four points behind RB Leipzig. The Bavarians dropped their first points of the year on Sunday when they were held for a goalless draw against RB Leipzig at Allianz Arena.

Flick will be hoping that his team maintains this intensity for the rest of the campaign. If they continue to get past the opposition the way they have done lately, then they will go on to win at least a domestic double. It will be interesting to see how Flick performs with this Bayern side in Europe.

The German manager will have to be clever with the rotation of players as fatigue is likely to creep in when they enter the business end of the season. Players such as Coutinho will have a huge say in the next two months despite struggling for form in the past couple of months.

It is still too early to say that Flick should be given the job on a permanent basis. However, he is doing everything right to make himself a strong candidate for this role. If Bayern ends up doing something special in Europe, then I think Flick will be in the dugout next season, leading the first team.
