Bayern Munich far from agreeing new deal with Manuel Neuer
Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer reveals the status of contract talks between him and the club.
Die Roten is looking to build a young squad that can help them to achieve sustained success on the pitch. Bayern Munich also wants to keep the right amount of experience around this young squad, helping them to cope with the demands of the club.
Manuel Neuer is one of the senior players in the squad that can lead by example both on and off the pitch. The German goalkeeper has been a marvelous player for Rekordmeister and remains hungry to achieve more success with the club.
Bayern wants to extend Neuer’s contract as it is set to expire in 2021. Earlier this season, there were reports in Germany suggesting that the club is close to agreeing to terms of a new contract. Neuer, though, provided a completely different update on the talks between two parties.
Speaking to Kicker, Neuer admitted that there is nothing to announce regarding his contract extension. The German shot-stopper admitted that there are no signals from the club regarding a new deal, but he remains focused on winning silverware with the club.
"“My plan is that I will continue to play football for Bayern. Alexander Nübel will be there from summer 2020 and then it will continue. And for me, it will continue until 2021. Then I have enough time to speak to those responsible,”“I have enough time to speak with the bosses. There are no signals, there is nothing we can announce. We are focused on winning titles with FC Bayern. That is our goal, we don’t put personal matters on the front.”"

The speculation surrounding Neuer’s future has increased since the club announced the pre-contract agreement with Alexander Nubel. Die Roten will complete Nubel’s signing from Schalke on a free transfer in January.
Nubel is likely to get a certain amount of games next season, so Neuer may have to sit out for few games. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is not used to sitting out games and is likely to demand guarantees about playing time when Die Roten offers a new deal. Juventus is reportedly eager to sign him if he fails to sign a new contract with Bayern.
Rekordmeister finds themselves in a peculiar situation at the moment. Neuer is in good form, and he still has a lot to offer, but Nubel cannot sit on the bench for long. However, Neuer’s experience is also needed in the dressing room, so he has a bigger role off the pitch.
In an ideal scenario, Bayern extends Neuer’s contract and convince him that Nubel will play cup competitions. This will satisfy all the parties. Neuer will get more than decent playing time while Nubel continues to develop by playing cup games. The German champions need to sort this issue one way or another as speculation surrounding captain may have a negative effect on the performances of the team.
