Bayern Munich president gives an update on managerial situation
Herbert Hainer admits that Bayern Munich is yet to take a firm decision on who will be the next manager.
Bayern Munich are slowly getting their season back on track after a chaotic hinrunde. The defending Bundesliga champions have moved back to the top position in the league. With a win against Hoffenheim on Wednesday, Die Roten progressed in the quarterfinals of DFB Pokal.
Hansi Flick has been a breath of fresh air in Bayern dugout after Niko Kovac parted ways with the club due to poor performances. Flick has been superb with the players as he has improved almost every individual in the last few months.
Bayern decided to reward Flick’s work by naming him the interim manager during the winter break. Flick reportedly wants to become Bayern’s full-time manager, but results are likely to dictate his future at the club.
In an interview with Sport1 (via Yahoo Sport), Herbert Hainer opens up about the process of finding a new manager. Hainer insisted that the club is yet to decide on the next manager, and they are likely to do it after the season comes to an end.
"“We have put trust in Flick until the end of the season and when the season is over we will analyze. Then the board will sit down,”“We have so much sports expertise with Hasan Salihamidzic, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and Oliver Kahn. They will then make a proposal to the supervisory board and then we will tell you.”"

Hainer also praised Flick for the job he has done with the first team in the past three months. The club president is happy that Flick implements a good style of play along with winning games. He is excited about seeing Flick’s men playing big games against RB Leipzig and Chelsea in the next few weeks.
Flick has shown good tactical awareness over the last three months. It will be interesting to see whether he maintains consistency until the end of the season. The German manager will win the race for the permanent managerial role if ends the campaign with domestic trophies and a deep run in the Champions League.
At the moment, Bayern are right to play the waiting game. The German champions will have a lot of managerial options available in summer, so handing Flick a permanent deal now doesn’t make sense. It is also important to see how Flick responds tactically when the team is in pressure against big clubs.
The game against Chelsea will be a good test for Flick. Bayern has struggled in Europe over the past few seasons. If the German manager can navigate through CL knockout games and take Bayern in the semi-finals or finals, then I think he will land the job permanently.
