Bayern Munich: Key Highlights of January
Transfers IN- Alexander Nubel and Alvaro Odriozola
January window is generally a tough time to do business, but Bayern Munich managed to pull off a couple of signings. As soon as the window opened, Rekordmeister didn’t waste time and completed the signing of Alexander Nubel from Schalke.
The German goalkeeper will come to Bavaria in summer when his contract with Schalke’s arrival. Nubel’s arrival did raise eyebrows, but it is a very promising signing. It shows that Bayern is already planning for the future as Nubel has the potential to be the successor of Neuer.

After wrapping up the deal for Nubel, Bayern were expected to sign a right-back. The defending Bundesliga champions were linked with numerous right-backs in the first two weeks of January. Die Roten eventually ended up signing Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid on a six-month loan deal.
Odriozola will provide much-needed cover and flexibility to the starting eleven. Joshua Kimmich and Benjamin Pavard will be able to play in their preferred positions due to Odriozola’s arrival. Hansi Flick wanted the club to sign a winger, but that is likely to happen in summer. Overall, it has been a productive transfer window for Rekordmeister as they address short-term and long-term issues of the squad.
