Arrival of Oliver Kahn at the club

The 2019/20 season was set to be a huge one for Bayern in terms of changes at the board level. Uli Hoeness bid farewell to the club in November. Herbert Hainer was elected as the new president of the club by the AG committee.

After finding a replacement for Hoeness, Bayern started grooming long term replacement of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Oliver Kahn is the designated candidate to replace Rummenigge in a year’s time. However, Kahn has already taken up a leadership role at Bayern and officially joined the club at the start of January.

The former Bayern goalkeeper was unveiled in the press conference and struck the right chord straightaway. Kahn will have an important role to play in the club’s decision making, whether it is transfers or the new managerial appointment.

Kahn wants to see more youth players from the academy to play for Bayern’s first team in the future. The German goalkeeper has also previously insisted that Die Roten needs to make a long-term managerial appointment. These thoughts from Kahn echoes with every Bayern fan’s thoughts, so it will be interesting to see how Kahn will contribute to Bayern’s decision making in the coming months.
