Perfect start to Ruckrunde

Bayern had a superb end to Hinrunde as they won three league games in a row. These wins displayed the team’s strong character and grit as they had to dig deep for victories against Wolfsburg and Freiburg. Similar to last year, Bayern had to chase the title in Ruckrunde as they went into the winter break four points behind Leipzig.

Things looked chaotic for Bayern as they encountered many problems during the winter break. Serge Gnabry suffered achilles injury during the training camp at Doha. Die Roten also suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat against FC Nurnberg in a mid-season friendly. Flick kept on putting pressure on the board to sign at least two new players to improve their chances of silverware this season.

Despite all the chaos, Bayern has made a terrific start to Ruckrunde. Flick’s philosophy is slowly taking shape as Die Roten has been brilliant in the final third against Hertha Berlin and FC Schalke. They have kicked off Ruckrunde in the best possible way.

Flick needs to make sure that Bayern maintains a similar intensity in most of the games over the next three months. There will be some games where they will have to dig deep for positive results. At the moment, the defending champions are flying high and look in good shape to retain the Bundesliga title.
