Bayern Munich kicked off  Ruckrunde with a composed 4-0 win against Hertha Berlin at Olympiastadion.

Manager Grade

Hansi Flick — 7/10

Flick didn’t do anything wrong with his team selection. The German champions underwhelmed in the first half. Flick had to send across a strong message in the half time. He surely succeeded in doing that as Die Roten looked much more cohesive in the final third. Flick also got his substitutes spot-on as the team saw out a resounding performance.

Player Grades

GK, Manuel Neuer — 8/10

Neuer had very little work to do in the first half as Bayern were comfortable in the defensive third apart from few moments of lapses. The German goalkeepers kept things tidy whenever he was in possession and made a huge save at the 86th minute to make sure he collects the sixth clean sheet in the Bundesliga this season.

DEF, Benjamin Pavard — 7/10

The French defender had a decent afternoon as he looked sound in defensive areas. Since Muller was playing on the right flank, Pavard had a huge role to play in the final third. He provided an adequate width while going forward and linked up well with other forwards.

DEF, Jerome Boateng — 6/10

The clean sheet may suggest that Bayern’s defensive pairing had a good game, but that was not the case on the pitch. Boateng was sublime on the ball, but he was constantly targetted by David Selke and Dodi Lukebakio on the counter. He needs to show quick improvement to keep his place in the lineup as Lucas Hernandez is close to making his return.

DEF, David Alaba — 6.5/10

Alaba had a fairly comfortable outing. The Austrian center-back had to work extra to cover for Boateng’s mistakes. There was one moment where he switched off and allowed Selke a free header in the box. Apart from that error, Alaba was flawless throughout the game.

DEF, Alphonso Davies — 7/10

The sky is the limit for Davies. The young Canadian forward continues to impress in the left-back position. He was relentless on the left flank as he made some marauding runs in the final third. While defending he was aggressive and won every duel he contested. A top performance from Davies.
