Bayern Munich set to sign Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid
Bayern Munich is reportedly on the verge of signing Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid.
The top European clubs are likely to be working hard in the next ten days to improve their squad. Bayern Munich generally doesn’t do business in January, but the thin squad is likely to force the club to look for possible solutions in the market.
Hansi Flick has been vocal about transfers this month. The German manager wants at least two new faces, one in defense and other in the attack. It is now looking likely that Bayern is set to grant his wish and add a right-back to the squad.
According to Bild, Bayern Munich is set to sign Alvaro Odriozola from Real Madrid. The Spaniard will join Die Roten on a six-month loan. This report doesn’t suggest that there is an option to make this transfer permanent in summer. They further add that Odriozola is already on his way to complete the medical and sign his contract.
In Spain, Cope reports that Odriozola will join on a six-month loan, and Bayern has no option to make this move permanent in July. In a press conference on Tuesday, Zinedine Zidane admitted that Odriozola has offers on the table.

Odriozola was considered as one of the best right-backs in La Liga during his time at Real Sociedad. His impressive performances eventually helped him to seal a move to Real Madrid last summer.
The presence of Dani Carvajal has made it difficult for Odriozola to get regular playing time. He has played only five games under Zidane this season. The Spanish full-back is known for his vision in the final third. His defensive game is a bit suspect, but he can improve with regular playing time. A move to Bayern Munich will benefit all parties as Odriozola desperately needs to play to be in contention for Spain’s Euros squad in summer.
Die Roten will now move Joshua Kimmich permanently in midfield. The German defender has been brilliant in this role and sees his long term future in the center of the park. Odriozola’s arrival will also make sure that Benjamin Pavard pairs up with Lucas Hernandez or David Alaba in central defense.
Flick will be happy with this acquisition as Odriozola will provide impetus on the right flank. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bayern negotiates for Odriozola in summer as Achraf Hakimi will return to Real Madrid. The Spanish club may be open to selling Odriozola due to Hakimi’s excellent form at Dortmund. Die Roten is unlikely to sign any more players in this window as all other targets are likely to be available in summer.
