Miroslav Klose believes that Hansi Flick’s tactical acumen is helping all players at Bayern Munich.

It has been a roller coaster ride for Bayern Munich this season. The Bundesliga champions have struggled to maintain consistency in the Bundesliga, which eventually led to the departure of Niko Kovac at the start of November.

Die Roten decided to appoint Hansi Flick as a caretaker manager. After some impressive results till Christmas, the club decided to give the interim role to Flick. Results have been better under Flick, but the team is still lacking the ruthless streak that made previous Bayern teams great.

Flick’s man-management skills have been praised heavily by players in media. They love to work with the German manager, and players such as Philippe Coutinho have also backed him to get the role permanently at the end of the season.

Miroslav Klose has worked with Flick during his time at the national team, both as player and coach. Along with being good in man-managing skills, Klose believes that Flick is a very good tactician. In an interview with SportBild, Klose insisted that Flick has the right tactical acumen to get the best out of all players.

"“The overall package at Hansi is right. He has a very good tactical understanding and takes everyone on board. You like to play under him, Coutinho is currently showing how he blooms.“Hansi Flick demands a lot, but gives freedom and gives only a few instructions. The players at Bayern are so experienced that they can handle it.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

There is a lot to love about Flick’s way of working as a head coach. The German manager is not afraid to give chances to young players in the first team. Joshua Zirkzee‘s brilliant cameos in December was down to the player, but it was great to see Flick relying on young players when the team is in danger.

Flick surely has the backing of players, but it is too early to consider him for the permanent role. He is making sure that Bayern plays an attractive style of football, but it remains to be seen how he does against top clubs in Europe. As the season progresses, we will get to know whether Flick is fit for a long term managerial role.

The German manager still has a lot to improve in a few aspects of the first team management. Bayern has not been thinking out of the box in terms of appointing managers since Pep Guardiola‘s departure in 2016. It will be interesting to see whether they stick to that mantra and go for a proven manager at the top level.

Since Flick’s appointment, Bayern has got their Bundesliga campaign on track. The defending champions are still not at the top of the table, but the lead at the top is only four points. Die Roten will be hoping to go on a long winning run, starting from the game against Hertha Berlin on Sunday, to make sure they win their eighth consecutive league title.
