Alexander Nubel will get adequate game time at Bayern Munich
Alexander Nubel’s agent confirms that Bayern Munich provided the perfect package.
Bayern Munich is always efficient in tying down deals for summer in the January transfer window. Over the years, they have signed some important players such as Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka on a pre-contract agreement. The players subsequently moved to Bavaria in summer on a free transfer.
This year it was nothing different. Bayern swiftly moved to seal the signing of Alexander Nubel from Schalke. The German goalkeeper was heavily linked with Die Roten in the past 12 months. Die Roten have beaten stiff competition for Nubel as top European clubs were linked with Schalke’s goalkeeper.
Nubel’s signing has raised eyebrows because Rekordmeister already has Manuel Neuer in their squad. The veteran goalkeeper is not yet ready to play a bit-part role as he remains hungry to achieve success with club and country.
The German media suggested that Nubel has a clause in his contract that makes sure that he gets a fixed amount of game time at Bayern next season. Speaking to Express, Stefan Backs- Nubel’s agent, confirms that Die Roten came up with a well-rounded proposal. Backs refused to go into details of the contract, but he made it clear that Nubel didn’t move to Bayern due to money.
"“Please understand that I will not comment on the content of the contract. But it should be clear to everyone that Bayern Munich also presented a conclusive concept, otherwise, Alex would not have agreed.”“To make it clear: if it were about money, Alex would have had to go abroad. There were several offers where money didn’t matter.”"

There is going to be non stop speculation surrounding Neuer’s situation at Bayern till he signs a new deal. The German champions want to extend Neuer’s contract for two more years. There were reports in Germany at the end of 2019 suggesting that talks between both parties are moving in the right direction.
Bayern has taken the right step by adding Nubel to the squad. They hesitated in finding replacements for Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery for long, which is hurting them at the moment as the attacking department is not as potent as it used to be. Nubel’s arrival will make sure that the club will not have to worry when Neuer calls it a day.
In the short term, Bayern needs to find the right balance in terms of game time to satisfy both goalkeepers. Neuer is an ambitious player and competitor, but he will need to manage his workload to extend his career. Allowing Nubel to play in DFB Pokal and one-third of Bundesliga games next season will help in giving both players a good amount of game time.
If Neuer refuses to extend his contract due to Nubel’s arrival, then Bayern should allow him to see out his current deal. He will leave the club at the age of 35 and pave the way for Nubel to take over as club’s new number. Overall, this deal was a no brainer for Die Roten and could turn out to be a masterstroke in a few years’ time.
