Christian Fruchtl

Bayern Munich have added one more quality goalkeeper at their disposal as they confirmed the signing of Alexander Nubel from Schalke. Nubel’s arrival will surely have an impact on the future of Sven Ulreich and Christian Fruchtl.

Ulreich is likely to hang around till summer as Nubel will join on a free transfer in July. Fruchtl currently plays for the reserves team and acts as a third-choice goalkeeper for the first time. The 19-year-old goalkeeper may look for a bigger loan move to continue his development.

More from Bayern Strikes

In an ideal scenario, Fruchtl goes on a two year or 18-month loan and then comes back to become Nubel’s deputy. He has been watching from the sidelines for the last couple of seasons, so it may be the right time for him to get some first-team action somewhere else.

Fruchtl surely has a long-term future at the club, despite the presence of Nubel. Manuel Neuer is likely to play for two-three seasons, and eventually, open the first team doors for Fruchtl. At this moment, he needs minutes, and that is not going to happen at Bayern, so a loan transfer in January could be perfect for the young goalkeeper.
