Bayern Munich is reportedly showing interest in Sevilla’s highly-rated winger Lucas Ocampos.

The winter transfer window is just a fortnight away, so the reports linking players to Bayern Munich are expected to become intense in the next few weeks. Die Roten has not ruled out making transfers in January, but their primary transfer targets are unlikely to be available midway through the season.

Rekordmeister are expected to make additions to their attack in the next couple of transfer windows. According to Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Lucas Ocampos from Sevilla. This report insists that Bayern has held talks with Sevilla about signing the 25-year-old winger.

Ocampos has been one of the star players for Sevilla this season. The Argentine winger has five goals and one assist to his name in La Liga. Ocampos’ impressive performances at club level also helped him earn the first cap for Argentina earlier this year.

The 25-year-old forward is at his best when utilized as a right-winger. He has also featured as a center forward and attacking midfielder for Sevilla this season. Ocampos has a great eye for passes in the final third, and he also works hard to do the defensive work.

More from Bayern Strikes

Ocampos will be a good signing for Bayern as long as they plan to use him as a squad option and go out for a top winger in summer. The Argentine forward has his prime years ahead of him, but right now he can only be a proper squad option for a top European club.

Die Roten tried their best to sign Leroy Sane, but a severe knee injury in July effectively put a halt on this transfer. The recent reports in Germany suggest that Sane remains interested to join Bayern, and the move is likely to happen in summer. The German winger has only two years left on his contract at Manchester City, so the English club will surely sanction his transfer in summer.

Ocampos’ arrival may also indicate that Bayern are not so keen on completing permanent transfers of Philippe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic. Both of them joined Die Roten on one-year loan deals last summer. If they leave at the end of the season, then Rekordmeister will need another forward along with Sane.

It will be a huge surprise if Bayern signs Ocampos in January.  A summer move will be favorable for all the parties involved. It will be a massive gamble for Die Roten if they make Ocampos as the only attacking signing in summer.
