Bayern Munich have reportedly decided to not make a move for Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Braut Haaland.

The attack remains the key area for Bayern Munich to address in the next couple of transfer windows. Die Roten improved it temporarily last summer by signing Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho on one-year loan deals. They are expected to make big moves next summer for top attacking talents in Europe.

One name that is looking unlikely to be on Bayern’s wishlist is Erling Braut Haaland. The Bundesliga champions have been keeping close tabs on Haaland’s exploits with Red Bull Salzburg. However, the latest update from Germany hints that Die Roten is ready to cool interest in the Norwegian striker.

According to SportBild, Bayern are not going to make a move for Haaland anytime soon. The club believes that they have enough options in number nine role. Serge Gnabry‘s impressive performance for Germany in number nine role is also one of the reasons behind Bayern’s decision.

After Lewandowski, Haaland has been the most prolific goal scorer in Europe this season. He scored hattrick on his Champions League debut and managed to keep scoring in every group game. His impressive form has attracted attention from numerous clubs across Europe. Haaland is likely to take a big leap in his career soon due to the performances of this season.

More from Bayern Strikes

The Norwegian striker would have improved Bayern’s attacking options. However, he would have not got regular playing time due to the presence of Robert Lewandowski in Bavaria. The Polish striker is not showing any signs of slowing down as he is on course to deliver the best season of his career in the ongoing season. Haaland needs regular game time at this stage of his career, so a move to Bavaria doesn’t make sense.

Lewandowski is eager to play at the top level for at least four seasons. His workload needs to be managed to achieve this feat. The Polish striker had previously urged Die Roten to sign a backup striker to help him and also improve the overall quality of the squad.

In such a scenario, Bayern should look for a much-experienced striker instead of someone like Haaland. The experienced forward will add quality, but most importantly, he will be happy with a reduced role. Someone like Mario Mandzukic could be an interesting option. The Croatian forward was linked with a return to Bavaria in summer.

If Die Roten wants to sign a young striker, then they will have to look at someone in reserves or an upcoming teen sensation. Haaland is currently one of the hottest young talents in Europe, but a move to Bayern can be counter-productive for all the parties involved.
