Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule opens up about his rehabilitation process from the anterior cruciate ligament injury.
In the past few seasons, Bayern Munich have been very unfortunate with injuries. The German champions have seen players suffering serious injuries at crucial junctures of the season. The injuries have massively hampered Die Roten in European competitions.
The 2019/20 season has not been any different in terms of injury for Bayern. They have struggled to get consistent results on the pitch. Injuries have played a huge role in their poor performances as they remain fourth in the Bundesliga table.
Niklas Sule is the Bayern player that suffered a serious injury in this campaign. The German defender suffered a serious knee injury against Augsburg in October. He has been ruled out for this season and expected to be back fit for the pre-season tour next year.
Sule is desperate to play for Germany in Euros next summer. Speaking at a fan event on Sunday (via SportBild), Sule provided an update on his recovery process. The German defender insisted that he is hopeful about making it in Germany’s squad for Euros.
"“The knee is alright. I’m a bit ahead of the healing process. That was not foreseeable and speaks for the good work of the surgeon.”“I’ll be glad to see you soon again. I have not yet written off the European Championship.”"

Bayern Munich signed Niklas Sule from Hoffenheim in 2017. Die Roten had to see off intense competition from top clubs to sign Sule. The German international has quickly established himself as Die Roten’s important player in defense during the last two seasons. Sule was the first choice central defender under Niko Kovac.
Apart from Bayern, Sule has also established himself as an important player for Germany. The 25-year-old center-back was eager to become a leader at Bayern this season after the departure of many senior players in summer. His absence has made a huge dent in Die Roten’s defensive stability.
Uli Hoeness has previously insisted that Sule will not be able to participate in Euros. Despite his fast recovery, Sule mustn’t push for early return since this is the second ACL injury for him in five years. A relapse in this injury will further worsen things for Sule, and he may face further time on sidelines.
Apart from his recovery process, Sule also spoke about the coaching situation at Bayern. The German defender sheds light on his relationship with Hansi Flick. He is backing Julian Nagelsmann, his former coach, to manage Die Roten in the future. Nagelsmann is one of the top contenders for Bayern’s coaching job as he continues to shine in the Bundesliga.
