Bayern Munich: Highlights of an eventful November
Robert Lewandowski scores four goals in a Champions League game
Bayern Munich have been inconsistent in the Bundesliga, but their form in cup competitions have been impressive this season. The Bavarians delivered an emphatic 7-2 win over Tottenham Hotspurs in London to make a strong case of finishing first in the group.
They sealed the top place by another emphatic performance away from home. In the matchday five of the Champions League, Bayern scored six goals away at Red Star Belgrade. Die Roten are currently averaging at least four goals in every CL game this season.
Robert Lewandowski’s remarkable run in the Bundesliga came to an end last weekend, but he compensated for that with four goals in Belgrade. The Polish striker scored these goals in the space of 15 minutes, fastest ever to score quadruple in a Champions League game. He can break the record of scoring most goals in the group stage of UCL in a season if he manages to score two goals against Spurs at Allianz Arena later this month.
Scoring multiple goals in a single match is not new for Lewandowski. He achieved this feat against Wolfsburg in 2015 when he scored five goals in nine minutes. The Polish striker is likely to have similar games this season as he is on course to have the best campaign of his career.
