Hasan Salihamidzic pleased with Mickael Cuisance’s progress at Bayern Munich
Hasan Salihamidzic admits that Bayern Munich is working hard to take Mickael Cuisance’s game to the next level.
Bayern Munich have plenty of options in central midfield. The German champions have a good variety in the profiles of midfield in the current squad. Moreover, Joshua Kimmich has also become a midfielder this season, further enhancing the quality of options.
Die Roten decided to cash in for Renato Sanches in summer. The Portuguese midfielder was getting frustrated due to a lack of playing time in Bavaria. He was determined to leave the club since the end of last season. Bayern eventually granted his wish by agreeing to a fee with Lille.
Rekordmeister moved quickly to secure Sanches’ replacement. They decided to sign Mickael Cuisance from Borussia Monchengladbach. Cuisance is considered as one of the most promising midfielders in the Bundesliga. The French midfielder was desperate to take the next step in his career, so without hesitance, he agreed to join Bayern.
This transfer has not exactly panned out in the way Cuisance would have liked. He is facing the same problems that Sanches came across in the last two seasons. Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern’s Sporting Director, remains confident that Cuisance will fulfill his potential at Bayern. Salihamidzc told media (via Kicker) that the club and player are working hard to take the next step.
"“He is a really good boy, the coaching team and we are working on taking the next step here.”“We had an idea with him and I’m also sure that he will continue to work seriously with these top players here at Bayern. He has great potential.”"

Cuisance has two appearances to his name this season. He has played four times for the reserves times. His cameos for the senior team have been tidy, nothing extraordinary nor poor. It is testing time for the teenager, but this phase could eventually make or break his career at Bayern.
Bayern saw him as a long term midfield option and moved swiftly to beat competition from other clubs. He is likely to get more chances next season as Javi Martinez‘s future at the club looks uncertain. The only thing he can do right now is to deliver sound performances in the limited opportunities he gets this season.
Cuisance operates as a box to box midfielder. If he manages to convert himself as a number six, then his chances of making it big at Bayern will increase. Die Roten were eagerly looking for a holding midfielder in summer. Kimmich has made that place his own this season, but having two good options in one position will always improve the team.
The cup games are the best opportunities for Cuisance this season. Tonight’s encounter against Red Star Belgrade was the perfect game where he may have got some playing time, but illness didn’t allow him to travel with the squad. After Sanches’ failure at the club, Bayern needs to be careful with another young midfielder as questions are already being raised about his game time.
