Corentin Tolisso is determined to find a way back in the starting lineup at Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich have very good depth in the midfield department. They didn’t make any high profile midfield addition but sanctioned the departure of Renato Sanches to Lille. Rekordmeister replaced the Portuguese midfielder by signing Mikael Cuisance from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Corentin Tolisso was also like a new signing for Bayern this season. The Frenchman missed the entire 2018/19 season due to a serious knee injury. He was back in training at the end of April, but Niko Kovac avoided the risk of aggravating the injury by playing in the final games of the season.
Bayern has mainly played with a two-man midfield this season. Philippe Coutinho or Thomas Muller have played the role of number ten in front of the midfield pairing. In this midfield, Joshua Kimmich has been a constant due to his consistent performances. However, the second position has not been cemented by anyone.
Tolisso played with Kimmich in midfield under Kovac. However, his performances were a bit inconsistent. He didn’t start against Borussia Dortmund and Olympiakos last week as Hansi Flick preferred Leon Goretzka over him in midfield. Speaking to Le Parisien (via Spox), Tolisso admitted that he is not happy with less game time, but remains determined to win his place back in the starting lineup.
"“I remain calm. No footballer is happy on the bench.”“Sometimes you have to take a bit back at such times and then show the right attitude when you get the opportunity.”"

The French midfielder enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Bayern Munich. He settled in quickly and scored many important goals during his first season. After winning the World Cup with France, Tolisso was expected to improve further for Die Roten. However, the serious knee injury derailed his progress at the club.
Tolisso also admitted in this interview that he continues to mull over his knee. He insisted that thoughts continue to creep in his mind whether he will be ever back to his best. However, Tolisso is ready to fight this battle and become an important player for Bayern.
Bayern Munich will need the complete squad in the second half of the season due to the accumulation of games. Tolisso has shown glimpses of his best form this season, especially against the game against Tottenham Hotspurs. With more game time and confidence under his belt, there is no doubt that the Frenchman will be back to his best.
Meanwhile, Die Roten received another injury setback this week. Jann-Fiete Arp had resumed first-team training after recovering from a wrist injury. Bayern Munich confirmed that Arp will be out of action for the time being due to injury to his forearm. As per Bild (via Onefootball), Arp is likely to be out for a month. The German forward was out for five weeks after injuring his hand during a training accident in September.
