Bayern Munich are reportedly set to hold talks with Hansi Flick this week about continuing the role of caretaker manager.

Despite all the managerial turmoil in the last few days, Bayern Munich ended the week on a strong note. The German champions clinched a convincing victory against Borussia Dortmund and moved to the third position in the league.

Bayern will now focus on sorting the managerial post during the two-week long international break. The club has been linked with numerous managers, but Hansi Flick is currently looking to be favourite for the interim role.

According to Bild, Bayern Munich will hold talks with Flick during the international break. This report insists that Flick continues to manage the first team, but he is unlikely to get the head coach role till the winter break.

This surely suggests that the club wants to give time to Flick. They will monitor his performances till winter break before handing the role of interim manager. Meanwhile, Hermann Gerland told BR (via DieRoten.PL) that Flick has similar managerial traits as that of Jupp Heynckes.

"“He reminds me of Jupp Heynckes. He communicates well with players, he is nice to them and tells them about the mistakes they make.”“He is simply an expert. He was a footballer, assistant coach, and now the first coach in two matches. We’ll see how long it will be like that .”"

Flick took the position on the bench against Olympiakos. Bayern were not spectacular in that game but clinched a comfortable 2-0 victory to book the place in the round of 16. His credentials as head coach were set to be tested against Borussia Dortmund.

The German managed to pass this test by flying colours. Die Roten dominated Dortmund for the majority of the game and showed great discipline in both boxes.  This enthralling performance has likely sealed the job for Flick at the moment. Moreover, Rekordmeister was also reportedly not considering Arsene Wenger for this position.

Lothar Matthaus also heaped praise on Flick last weekend. The former German international believes that he has the right traits to take up the interim role. Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag remains Bayern’s top target to become the manager at the end of this campaign.

The sample size is too small to pass judgement on Flick’s managerial credentials, but the candidates for the interim role are less. Die Roten chiefs are right to wait till the winter break to give him that interim post. However, a definite decision right now would have stopped the speculation surrounding this position.
