Uli Hoeness dismisses talk of a crisis at Bayern Munich
Uli Hoeness dismisses the talk of a crisis at Bayern Munich after a string of underwhelming performances in October.
Bayern Munich endured a mixed October as they managed to win most of the games, but the performances have been largely disappointing. The defending champions are finding it difficult to dominate the opponent.
These poor performances have quickly piled up pressure on Niko Kovac. The speculation surrounding his future started after these run of poor performances. Die Roten chiefs are reportedly already considering the replacements for the Croatian manager.
The most recent poor showing came against VfL Bochum in DFB Pokal. Bayern were on the verge of getting knocked out of the competition, but a late flourish in the game helped them to qualify for the next round. Manuel Neuer expressed his frustration after this game and urged his teammates to up their game as soon as possible.
There has been a talk of a crisis at Bayern in the German media. However, Uli Hoeness doesn’t believe that there is anything to worry about yet. In an interview with AZ, the club president admits that good football would eventually arrive, but it is important to churn out wins at the moment.
"“We are critical enough with our team, we have to win at the moment and the good game will come by itself.”“We are complaining at a high level here, we are undefeated in the Champions League, we are up there in the Bundesliga, and one thing I can tell you is that boredom in the Bundesliga will come soon enough.”"

Kovac had settled on a balanced lineup at the start of the season. The team was scoring more goals and looked solid at the back. However, the long term injuries to Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Sule have disrupted Kovac’s plans.
Joshua Kimmich played a crucial role in midfield, helping Bayern to dictate play and remain solid defensively. The injuries to center-backs have forced Kovac to move him back in defense. He is doing well in the right-back position, but the balance in midfield is disrupted. Lately, the individual errors are also costing Bayern at the back.
It will be a kneejerk decision to sack Kovac right now. He managed to win the domestic double last season with an ageing squad. The Croatian has shown signs of progress this term, so sacking him will undo all the good work he has done till now.
Bayern will be in a better position to review Kovac’s position in summer. The club chiefs need to publicly back the manager to avoid such speculation affect the dressing room. On the other hand, Kovac also needs to find a way to navigate through injury issues and improve the style of play.
