Bayern Munich reportedly monitor exciting Erling Braut Haaland
Bayern Munich joins a host of European clubs in monitoring Red Bull Salzburg’s exciting striker Erling Braut Haaland.
The focus on top young players across the globe was the policy followed by Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. Die Roten ended up with a couple of experienced players, but the primary targets in those positions were young players.
Bayern is likely to stick with this policy in the next few transfer windows as they look to build a team that can help them in achieving long term success. The attacking department of the squad still needs addressing, so the Bavarians are likely to monitor numerous young forwards.
According to Guardian, Bayern Munich has been regularly scouting Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Braut Haaland this season. The Bundesliga champions will face stern competition if they decide to complete this transfer as more than 20 clubs are keeping a close eye on the young striker. SportBild’s Christian Falk also confirmed that Die Roten are heavily scouting Haaland.
Haaland is a traditional number nine, having all types of finishes in his locker. The Norwegian forward hit the ground running for Red Bull Salzburg after joining the club from Molde in January. He has notched up 22 goals in 14 appearances for the Austrian side this season, which includes a hattrick in his Champions League debut against Genk.

This report from the English outlet suggests that Salzburg will not entertain offers for Haaland in January. The Austrian club will wait till summer and would welcome a bidding war for the services for Haaland. If he maintains his current scoring rate, then he is likely to become Salzburg’s record sale in summer.
Bayern Munich currently has a world-class number nine at their disposal. Robert Lewandowski is showing no signs of slowing down as he is on track to enjoy his best career in a Bayern shirt. The Pole is also working hard on his fitness as he is determined to play at the top level for at least four more years.
However, Lewandowski has been vocal about Bayern signing a striker to manage his workload and improve the quality of the squad. Haaland ticks both the boxes, but the Norwegian will want more gametime at this stage of his career that what he will get in Bavaria.
Bayern will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Haaland to join the club. Signing the forward in summer and then loaning him back to Red Bull Salzburg will be an ideal scenario for all the parties involved. The interest in Haaland is tentative, but this transfer surely makes sense for Bayern.
