Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspurs next summer.

It was a busy summer for Bayern Munich this year as they decided to bring in numerous players to replace departing senior players. This rebuilding process is likely to continue next summer as Die Roten continues to build a younger squad to compete for honours in the present and future.

The future of Thomas Muller has been the talking point this week. Muller has struggled to get regular gametime this season, so he is reportedly contemplating a move away from the club. A summer transfer is more likely than winter move at this moment.

Bayern will have to look for his replacement if he decides to end his time in Bavaria. Muller has unique qualities, and finding a similar player in the market will be difficult. However, Die Roten has reportedly started the groundwork to sign one of the best-attacking midfielders in Europe.

According to Sport1, Bayern is showing strong interest in Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen. This report insists that Die Roten are already in touch with Eriksen’s representatives to discuss the possibility of joining the club in summer. The German outlet also says that sources close to the Danish playmaker insist that Bayern is a serious option for him.

More from Bayern Strikes

Eriksen will be a transfer target for numerous top European clubs next summer. Not only he is a gifted midfielder, but his contract at Spurs is set to expire in 2020. Earlier this year, Eriksen admitted that he is looking for a new challenge. Real Madrid and Manchester United were reportedly interested in him, but a move failed to materialize.

The former Ajax midfielder has shown no signs of extending his contract at the English club. As things stand, he will be free to discuss terms with European clubs in January. Spurs will ideally like to get some sort of transfer fee for Eriksen, so they will be ready to listen to offers for him in the winter transfer market.

Eriksen can play in numerous positions in attack. He is at his best when deployed in the number ten role behind the striker. Mauricio Pochettino also deployed him in a deeper role due to his impressive passing range. In 214 Premier League appearances, Eriksen has managed to score 50 goals, and create 61 goals for his teammates. He is roughly averaging a goal contribution in every two games. If Muller leaves in summer, then Bayern may have to sign one more attacking player along with one of Philippe Coutinho and Kai Havertz. The Brazilian is currently on loan from Barcelona, while Die Roten have been heavily linked with a summer move for Havertz. Signing both of them is not a viable option, so signing Eriksen on a free transfer is a no brainer.
