Bayern Munich without Thomas Muller is unimaginable, says Joshua Kimmich
Joshua Kimmich can not imagine Bayern Munich without Thomas Muller amidst intense speculation around the future of German forward at the club.
Thomas Muller has been the talking point for Bayern Munich this week. The German forward is frustrated with less playing time this season and is reportedly contemplating a move away from the club in the winter transfer window.
Muller also hinted in an interview this week that he is too ambitious to be an impact player from the bench and remains hungry to achieve success at Bayern. The 30-year-old forward also admits that he will have to look for a solution if he continues to be on the bench for Die Roten.
The German forward started the season positively as Niko Kovac used him in the number ten role. However, the arrival of Philippe Coutinho changed the scenario for him. Kovac started favoring Coutinho in this role in the last five weeks, reducing Muller minutes on the pitch.
Speaking to media (via SportBild) after Germany’s game against Argentina, Joshua Kimmich touched upon Muller’s situation at Bayern. The German international cannot imagine Bayern without Muller, but understand his frustrations.
"“He’s a big figure of identification, like Schweini or Philipp Lahm, now David Alaba. There is almost no one from his own youth who has managed to become a staid player. He is a formative figure of the club. ”“It is clear that Thomas is dissatisfied with the situation. He claims to want to play. You have to say that when he comes in, he always does it very well, it’s difficult for the opponent to get the qualities of a free spirit under control.”"

It will be huge surprise if Bayern Munich allow Muller to leave in the winter transfer window. The Bundesliga champions will need contribution from every player in the squad throughout the season. Kovac will have to rotate the team in the deeper part of the season when there is an accumulation of fatigue amongst players.
Muller was impressive during his 30-minute appearance against Hoffenheim. The German forward brought Die Roten back into the game by delivering a precise cross for the equalizer. However, Bayern succumbed to defeat in this game as they conceded a late goal in the second half.
If Muller continues to deliver impressive performances from the bench, then Kovac will be forced to give him starts. However, it is difficult to see him and Coutinho play together as it affects the balance of the attack. Kovac can deploy Muller in the number nine role to manage the workload of Robert Lewandowski, though.
Muller can still play a pivotal role in Bayern’s success this season, but being a regular player in the starting eleven is too much to ask for at the moment. The club may allow him to leave in summer if they plan to sign one of Coutinho and Kai Havertz.
