Thomas Muller opens up about his future at Bayern Munich
Thomas Muller speaks about his future at Bayern Munich as recent reports in Germany suggest that he could leave the club in winter.
Bayern Munich were ruthless in summer as they released three senior players and agreed to trade Mats Hummels with Borussia Dortmund. The German club also decided to send James Rodriguez back to Real Madrid.
Die Roten will have to resolve the future of some senior players next summer. Thomas Muller and Javi Martinez are the players that currently face uncertainty at the club. They have struggled to get regular playing time under Niko Kovac this season.
Earlier this week, a report from Bild suggested that Muller may consider his future at Die Roten if he continues to get limited playing time. The SportBild also went big on Muller’s future today and reports that the German forward has asked permission from the club to leave in the winter market.
In an interview with Kicker, Thomas Muller addressed these reports. The German forward admitted that he doesn’t want to remain a bench player. Muller also said that he is still hungry for success and regular playing time.
"“I am just 30 years old, fit and hungry for success – with the club, but also personally. I am firmly convinced that I can help the team with my skills on the pitch.”“If the coaching team only sees me in the role of a substitute player in the future, I have to think about it.”"

Sky Sports in Germany say that Bayern have no plans to sanction Muller’s sale anytime soon. This report also insists that Die Roten consider Muller as a leader in the squad and an important player on the pitch due to his versatility. They insist that Muller is frustrated but a transfer in the winter market is a far-fetched idea for the time being.
The comments surely hint that Muller may contemplate his future at the club if Kovac continues to use him from the bench. Muller started the season as the first-choice option for number ten. However, the arrival of Philippe Coutinho completely changed the scenario for Muller.
Coutinho took time to settle at the club as he missed the majority of pre-season games due to participation in Copa America. After the first international break, Kovac decided to give Coutinho an extended run in starting lineup. The Brazilian grasped this opportunity with both hands and cemented his place in the team.
Muller is still a vital player for Bayern, and he showed his quality by making a tremendous impact against Hoffenheim. Coutinho is in good form right now, so Muller will need to patiently wait for his chance. He managed to get a decent amount of time when James Rodriguez was at the club. Hence, Coutinho and Muller can have healthy competition for one position at Die Roten.
