Niklas Sule backs Robert Lewandowski to have big season for Bayern Munich
After a tremendous start to the season, Niklas Sule is backing Robert Lewandowski to have a record-breaking season for Bayern Munich.
It has been an underwhelming start to the season for Bayern Munich. The defending champions have twice dropped points in four league games. The performances have been generally good, but ruthlessness in the final third has led to two draws against Hertha Berlin and RB Leipzig.
Robert Lewandowski started the season on fire, though. The Polish striker has been Die Roten’s go-to man for goals in the first four league games. He is currently the top scorer in the Bundesliga with seven goals to his names.
The Pole also managed to get his first hattrick of this season against Schalke in gameweek two of the Bundesliga. Lewandowski will like to have more support from other attacking players if Bayern wants to retain their domestic trophies and go deep into the Champions League.
Niklas Sule is backing Lewandowski to break his record for the number of goals in the Bundesliga this season. Speaking to Bundesliga.com, Sule admitted that Lewandowski can go on to score more than 30 goals in the league this year.
"“I’d love it if he can keep going as he is.”“He’s in great form and we need Lewy to be successful this season. I don’t want to give any numbers, but if he continues at this rate, scoring in every game, then you can work it out for yourself that he’ll get over 30 goals hopefully.”"

This target is not unrealistic for Lewandowski as he is now completely focused on Bayern. The Polish striker was agitating for a move away from the club last summer. Real Madrid was reportedly his dream destination. The Spanish club tried to sign him on numerous occasions, but Bayern was not interested in entertaining this transfer.
However, he is now completely settled at Bayern and wants to win more silverware with the German club. Lewandowski also committed his future to Die Roten by signing a new contract last month. He is open to ending his glittering career in Bavaria but remains confident about playing at the top level for at least four more years.
Lewandowski is yet to win Champions League for Bayern. The Polish striker came under immense criticism for not delivering for the Bundesliga club in crunch Champions League games. His performance against Real Madrid in 2017/18 led to intense criticism in German media.
Bayern still lacks some firepower to win the prestigious European. However, Lewandowski’s lethal form can help them to pose a proper challenge in this competition. The former Borussia Dortmund striker will be hoping to take his domestic exploits to European games as Bayern kick off their campaign against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.
