Fenerbahce is reportedly showing interest in Jerome Boateng as he will struggle to get regular gametime at Bayern Munich this season.
After a disappointing result against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich quickly completed a couple of transfers to improve the squad. Die Roten has kept the doors open for more transfers before the deadline day, but departures are likely to be on the club’s agenda next week.
Renato Sanches completed a move to Lille this week as the Portuguese midfielder was frustrated with less playing time at Bayern. Jerome Boateng is another Bayern player that might have to look for a transfer in the next few days to play regularly this season.
According to Hurriyet, Fenerbahce is interested in signing Boateng from Bayern before the end of this transfer window. This report further insists that the Turkish club has already held talks with Die Roten and proposed a one-year loan deal for the German defender.
Bayern will ideally like an obligation to buy clause in this deal. The German club has been trying to offload senior players this summer to make room for new signings. Mats Hummels left Die Roten to rejoin Borussia Dortmund at the start of this transfer window. Boateng is the last senior player Bayern might try to offload this summer.

The Bundesliga champions were shaky at the back throughout the 2018/19 season. They decided to address this weakness by paying a club-record fee to sign Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid. Die Roten also went on to sign Benjamin Pavard from VfB Stuttgart. These two French defenders and Niklas Sule are the main options for Niko Kovac in central defense.
An injury crisis is the only way Boateng will get a chance to get into the starting eleven. Uli Hoeness had advised the German defender to look for a new club at the end of last season. The German champions have reportedly reduced their asking price to facilitate his departure. However, Boateng was ready to buckle down and fight for his place in the team this season.
Boateng might have to change his stance after not being involved in the first Bundesliga game of the season. He missed the game against Schalke due to illness. Boateng was agitating for a move away from Bavaria last summer when Paris Saint-Germain held talks with Die Roten for his transfer. However, the two clubs couldn’t find an agreement over the transfer fee.
Inter Milan and Napoli were also linked with the 31-year-old center-back, but the Italian clubs went on to sign other defenders. Boateng will have to be on sidelines for the most part of this campaign if he fails to complete a transfer before the deadline day. A move to Fenerbahce is not ideal, but he will surely play regularly at the Turkish club.
