Robert Lewandowski expects Philippe Coutinho to become an important player for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich has endured a frustrating summer transfer window. The Bundesliga champions have struggled to sign their top transfer targets. However, the club moved swiftly last week to add three players to the squad.

The Bundesliga giants started looking at alternative targets in attack after Leroy Sane was ruled out for at least six months. Die Roten decided to complete loan deals for Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho from Inter Milan and Barcelona respectively.

Perisic completed his move at the start of last week while Coutinho underwent medical on Sunday. The Brazilian forward took part in his first training session at Bayern on Tuesday. Coutinho could become Die Roten’s most expensive player if they decide to sign him permanently next summer.

Bayern chiefs are optimistic about Coutinho providing a cutting edge in the final third. Speaking to Sky Sports, Robert Lewandowski heaped praise on his new teammate. The Polish striker admitted that Coutinho’s creativity will make a huge impact on the team.

"“A top player who can play in a few positions and that gives us many options.”“He can play really good offensively, with good passes and creativity. I think he can help us well.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Lewandowski has been vocal about the club’s lack of signings this summer. The Polish striker is satisfied with the way club has responded last week by complete the transfers. Hasan Salihamidzic has refused to rule out more signings before the deadline day, but Uli Hoeness believes that the squad is balanced now.

Coutinho is likely to play in his favored role at Bayern. The Brazilian forward is very good at linking the attack and midfield by slotting in the number ten role. Coutinho can form a deadly partnership with Lewandowski in the final third. Apart from the number ten role, Coutinho can also play on the left side of the attack.

The Brazilian will help Die Roten to break down the teams which sit deep and wait for opportunities to score on the counterattack. Coutinho has struggled at Barcelona in the last 18 months. He still has many years left in his prime, so a change of scenery can help him to kickstart his career.

Apart from Perisic and Coutinho, Bayerns also signed Mikael Cuisance from Borussia Monchengladbach. The French midfielder was unveiled in front of media on Tuesday. Die Roten wanted a holding midfielder this summer. Cuisance will not straightaway go into the starting lineup but has the potential to make this position his own in the next two seasons.
