Former Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has been reportedly offered a lucrative contract by Al-Nassr FC.

Bayern Munich released numerous veteran players this summer. Arjen Robben decided to retire from football while Rafinha sealed a move back to Brazil by joining Flamengo. Franck Ribery is the only senior player that is without a club since leaving Die Roten at the end of last season.

The French winger has insisted that he still has fire in his belly to play at the top level. However, there have been very few clubs showing strong interest in Ribery. He was briefly linked with a move to Sheffield United but the English club quickly denied these claims.

There were murmurs in German media last week that Ribery could stay in the Bundesliga and join Eintracht Frankfurt. These reports were also quickly squashed by the German club and Ribery has previously insisted that he will not play against Bayern.

More from Bayern Strikes

The former French international is now linked with a move to Al-Nassr FC. According to Kicker, Ribery currently has a two-year contract offer on the table from Al-Nassr. The Saudi Arabian club is eager to sign the French winger this summer.

This move might be the best possible scenario for Ribery right now. The Frenchman has been struggling with injuries in his last few years in Bavaria, so a move to less intense league might decrease his injury woes. Moreover, this move is also financially appealing for a player in the twilight of his career.

Meanwhile, Bayern is yet to replace Ribery in the current squad. The French winger has previously urged his former club to complete the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City. He believes that Sane has all the attributes of a typical Bayern player.

The Bundesliga champions have been working on the deal to bring Sane back to the Bundesliga. Bayern rubbished last week’s reports suggesting that the deal is close to completion. However, the German media continue to suggest that Die Roten has made positive progress in this deal over the last two weeks.

France Football has provided the latest update on this saga. The French outlet insists that two clubs are close to reaching an agreement over the transfer fee. This report further adds that Sane will be the highest-paid player at Bayern if this transfer is completed. There are only three days left in the Premier League transfer window, so this saga will surely conclude, either way, this week.
