Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is confident that he can play at the top level for the next four years.
There have been some absolute top signings made by Bayern Munich in this century. However, in terms of contribution and transfer fee, no signing comes close to that of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker arrived in Munich five years ago from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.
In his five seasons with Die Roten, he has managed to score a mammoth 191 goals in 242 appearances. He has been the top scorer for Bayern in the last five seasons and is favorite to repeat this feat next season.
Lewandowski remains one of the most lethal strikers in Europe. The Polish striker is confident that he can continue to deliver for Bayern even though he will turn 31 in August. Speaking to Bundesliga.com, Lewandowski insisted that he will maintain his fitness to play at top level till the age of 35.
"“I want to play for at least another four years. I don’t feel like I’m about to turn 31.”“I’ll try to make the most of my time, and that means keeping myself in the best shape possible.”"

Bayern Munich will also play an important role in getting the best out of Lewandowski in the next four years. The German club will have to manage the workload to avoid serious injuries. Lewandowski has already urged Die Roten to sign a back-up striker to improve his and team’s performances next season. Moreover, Bayern should also start looking for a striker that can eventually become the long term replacement of Lewandowski.
The Polish striker is in good space right now after last summer’s intense speculation around his future at Bayern. Lewandowski was agitating for a move away from Bavaria, but the club stood firm and didn’t entertain any offers for their talismanic striker. He felt lack of support from the club during the barrage of criticism from media in 2017/18 season.
Lewandowski didn’t let this speculation affect his performances last season and ended the campaign with 40 goals. The club chiefs also defended him publicly when Dietmar Hamann branded Lewandowski as a selfish player. The two parties are on the same page now as Bayern is close to extending his contract.
The Polish striker has won all the domestic trophies with Bayern in last five years but faced disappointment in the Champions League every season. He has urged Die Roten to make more signings this summer to compete with the elite teams in Europe. The German champions are currently struggling to sign their top transfer targets. They want at least two new arrivals before the window shuts in September.
