Kai Havertz has ruled out a move to Bayern Munich this summer as he plans to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich is enduring a difficult summer transfer window. The German club is finding it difficult to complete deals for their prime transfer targets. Die Roten wants to sign at least one winger this summer to strengthen their attacking department.
The Bavarians suffered a massive setback last weekend, as reports emerged in England that Leroy Sane is set to stay at Manchester City. Sane had emerged as the top target for Bayern. The German club was waiting for Sane’s decision before approaching the English club.
Kai Havertz is another German player that will not be joining Bayern this summer. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder was heavily linked with Die Roten in the past 12 months. Speaking to Suddeutsche Zeitung (via SportBild), Havertz revealed that he is set to continue with Bayer Leverkusen next season. The German midfielder has left the door open to a move to Bavaria in the future, though.
"“You hear a lot of things, it’s all about the possibilities for the next few years. But for me it was clear that I will stay the next year in Leverkusen, I wanted to keep the whole thing away from me for the first time.”“At some point, I will take the next step, of course, I want to do that because you do not need to talk about it. If it comes to that, no one will be angry with me here. You just want to achieve the greatest in your career.”"

Havertz enjoyed a brilliant 2018/19 season with Leverkusen. The 20-year-old midfielder scored a staggering 17 goals in the Bundesliga. His creativity in the final third was impressive. Leverkusen will be expecting him to improve further under Peter Bosz next season. Havertz’s consistent performances at club level were rewarded with a place in the national team setup.
There have been reports in Germany last season hinting that Bayern will sign Havertz in 2020. The Bavarians might see him the long term replacement of Thomas Muller. Die Roten will have a lot of competition for his signature next summer, as he is likely to get better next season. Moreover, Leverkusen will be within their right to demand a big fee as his current contract expires in 2022.
Bayern Munich has always made sure that they try to sign top German talents. It will be a no brainer for the Bundesliga champions to go all out for Havertz next summer as he is the best German talent in that age group. The 20-year-old midfielder has the potential to become a world-class player in the next few years.
On the other hand, Die Roten is set to make another bid for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi after suffering a setback in the deal for Sane. The German champions will be looking at other alternatives in order to strengthen their attack. There should be some sort of movement in the market for Bayern in the next few weeks. Hasan Salihamidzic has not flown out with the team for the pre-season tour in order to concentrate on completing the transfer business.
