Serge Gnabry is targetting significant improvement in himself next season after a promising debut campaign at Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich has started preparations for next season as players reported at Saebener Strasse this week. The squad will depart for the United States of America this weekend to participate in the International Champions Cup. Die Roten will face Arsenal, Real Madrid, and AC Milan during this pre-season tour.
The German club is set to be active in the transfer market in order to improve the squad and replace the veteran players that left the club this summer. Along with the new signings, the younger players of the first-team squad are expected to improve next season.
Serge Gnabry is one of these young players that will play an important role for Die Roten. After an impressive debut season in Bavaria, Gnabry is eager to improve further next season. Speaking to media (via Bundesliga.com) on Thursday, Gnabry insisted that he has assessed his first season and now he wants to take his game to next level.
"“Last season, I had to get used to a new club, where there’s always the pressure to succeed, and to new players. We also played in the Champions League, which was new to me, too.”“Of course you reflect on your own performances, but I’ve tried not to think too much about certain things. It starts all over for me. I want to improve – in all areas.”"

Gnabry started the season slowly but eventually became an important player for Niko Kovac. He ended the campaign with 42 appearances across all competitions. The German international contributed to18 goals in these appearances. Gnabry was voted as the player of the year by the Bayern fans at the end of the season. The German champions rewarded Gnabry’s impressive performances by handing him a new contract.
Uli Hoeness was pleasantly surprised with the progress shown by Gnabry in his first season at the club. The German winger is flexible and can play anywhere across the front three. Gnabry should be aiming to score 20 goals across all competitions next season. He might also get a chance to play as a number nine if Bayern opts against signing a backup striker.
Gnabry and Coman formed a very good partnership on opposite flanks in the second half of the season. After the departures of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, these young wingers will have more responsibility next season. Coman will be hoping that his injury struggles are a thing of past while Gnabry will be looking to deliver consistent performances throughout the season.
Bayern Munich is expected to add at least one winger to the squad before the deadline day in September. The club currently lacks depth in this position despite the promise shown by the likes of Gnabry, Coman and Alphonso Davies. A top-class winger will complete the attack and will provide Niko Kovac some exciting options next season.
