Bayern Munich is reportedly close to clinching a deal for Celtic’s youth defender Liam Morrison.

This summer Bayern Munich is looking to make key additions across the youth teams. Die Roten allowed some players to leave the club in order to give them the taste of the first-team action. Woo-Yeong Jeong was the most notable departure as he left the club permanently to join Freiburg.

Bayern has made a few signings in the last couple of weeks. Sarpreet Singh became the first New Zealand player to join Die Roten. The 20-year-old midfielder is set to play with the reserves team next season. The Bavarians also completed the signings of Jamal Musiala and Bright Arrey- Mbi from Chelsea.

The Bundesliga club is now looking to complete the signing of Liam Morrison from Celtic. Morrison has been linked with a move to Die Roten in past few weeks. According to Football Insider, Bayern has agreed personal terms with the player and he is likely to sign the contract in coming days.

More from Bayern Strikes

Bayern will pay a small compensation fee to Celtic for the Scottish central defender. Morrison is rated highly in the Scottish setup. He has already played for Scotland’s U-17 team. Celtic were desperate to keep the 16-year-old defender, but the opportunity to play for Bayern was too good to turn down. Morrison is likely to play in the U-17 team of the German club.

Along with signing players for the youth teams, Die Roten also made some changes to the coaching staff of these team. Sebastian Hoeness took over the Bayern Munich II as Holger Seitz took up a position in the academy’s management team. There was a change in the first-team coaching staff as Hansi Flick replaced Peter Hermann in the assistant coach role.

Hasan Salihamidzic was eager to promote Miroslav Klose to the U-19 team after his successful season with the U-17 team. However, Klose was not ready for this move and eventually, the club’s sporting director gave this role to Martin Demichelis. Klose is expected to take this step up in the near future as he has done impressive work with the U-17 team.

Bayern has been enjoying success at youth levels in the last few seasons. The German club will like to keep the success rolling and in this process develop some players for the first team. These new signings are exciting, but the club needs to plan the right path to the first team for these players.
