Bayern Munich has reportedly made a new bid for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The search for a top quality wide player is becoming difficult for Bayern Munich. Die Roten wants to upgrade their attacking options by signing at least one winger after releasing Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery this summer.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is one of the few forwards that have been heavily linked with a move to Bayern. Die Roten made numerous bids for the teenager in January but Chelsea refused to budge and sell their most talented youngster midway through the season. However, the recent reports in England suggest that the German champions have now reportedly renewed their interest in the English winger.
According to Guardian, Bayern Munich has made a new bid for Hudson-Odoi in the region of £22.5 million. This bid has been immediately rejected by the English club as they are trying to tie down the teenager on a new long term deal.

This report also insists that Hudson-Odoi is still keen on making a switch to Bavaria as he continues to recover from a serious achilles injury and is expecting to be back in action by September. Bayern is expected to come back with an improved offer for the English winger. Meanwhile, Sky Sports is reporting that Chelsea and Hudson-Odoi are still far apart in the contract negotiations.
Hudson-Odoi was determined to join Bayern in January. He tried to force a move by handing a transfer request. The English international eventually got a decent amount of gametime in the second half of the season. His season came to a devastating end when he suffered a serious injury at the end of April.
Bayern continued to insist that this injury will not dampen their interest in the winger. Chelsea meanwhile cannot afford to lose one more winger after Eden Hazard left the club to join Real Madrid. Moreover, the Blues will not be able to sign players this summer due to the transfer ban.
The London based club will be forced to keep him even if he refuses to sign a new contract. Hudson-Odoi can sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern in January 2020 if he decides to run down his contract at Chelsea. Die Roten will still have to look for another winger this summer as the chances of signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City are very slim.
The German winger is the prime transfer target for the Bundesliga Champions but he reportedly wants to stay in the Premier League. Bayern is reportedly considering numerous alternatives for the German international. Hudson-Odoi is one of these alternatives though he is not at the same level as Sane yet. However, he has the potential to reach there in the next few years. It will be interesting to see whether Bayern will make a couple more bids for the English international in order to test Chelsea’s resolve.
