Bayern Munich is reportedly showing strong interest in Chievo’s teenage midfielder Emanuel Vignato.
There has been numerous departure at Bayern Munich this week. The most significant departure was that of Mats Hummels as the German defender decided to join Borussia Dortmund. However, the most number of departures took place in the youth teams.
Die Roten is expected to make key additions to the first team squad this summer. The Bundesliga champions are looking for young players in the transfer market in order to replace the departing old players. Bayern will also try to unearth some hidden gems in the market that can play in the youth teams next season.
According to II Mattino (via Calciomercato), Bayern is very interested in signing Emanuel Vignato from Chievo Verona. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is attracting a lot of interest from Serie A clubs like Genoa and Sassuolo. This report insists that Bayern is already in contact with the player’s entourage.

Vignato is primarily an attacking midfielder but he has also operated in the wider positions for Chievo. The teenager only made ten appearances for Chievo last season and contributed in two goals during these appearances. Vignato has also featured for the U-17 and U-18 teams of Italy.
Chievo will surely prefer selling Vignato to the Bundesliga champions over the other Italian clubs. However, Vignato might prefer staying in Italy as he is likely to get more first-team opportunities at the clubs like Genoa and Sassuolo than Bayern. The Bundesliga champions will likely sign him for the reserves team instead of the first team.
The Bundesliga champions have struggled in the past few seasons to integrate top talents in the first team. There have been some talented players in the reserves that left the club in order to get regular minutes at other clubs. Woo-Yeong Jeong is the latest player to leave Bavaria to get opportunities in the senior team. The South Korean winger completed a permanent move to Freiburg this week.
However, the likes of Joshua Kimmich have shown that young players can progress well at a big club like Bayern. The club is focusing on nurturing young talent rather than going for big names. Alphonso Davies is the prime example of their recruitment policy. Vignato also satisfies this policy but it will be interesting to see if the young player favors this transfer over a move to top division Italian clubs.
