Mark Van Bommel admits that PSV Eindhoven remains interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben.

Bayern Munich is set to bid farewell to numerous players this summer. The club has already released some of the senior players and they are also ready to listen to offers for some of the fringe players in the squad. Mats Hummels was the latest player to leave the club as he rejoined Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Arjen Robben has already left the club as his contract with Die Roten is set to expire at the end of June. The Dutch winger enjoyed a trophy-laden ten years at the club. He fittingly ended his Bayern career by winning the domestic double.

PSV Eindhoven still remains eager to sign Robben despite his injury issues last season. The Dutch club already held talks with Robben in December when he announced his plans of leaving Bayern. Speaking to Voetbal, Mark Van Bommel admitted that PSV is keen on signing Robben and he has spoken with the Dutch winger on numerous occasions.

"“More than one call indeed. He has to make the decision, that is very simple.”“He knows that we would like to have him there and now we have to give him the time to make a choice about it.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

The Dutchman has been linked with numerous clubs since December. PSV and FC Groningen are the Dutch clubs that are keen on signing him while Inter Milan has been also loosely linked with him. Earlier this year, there were rumors that Robben is preferring a move to MLS and FC Toronto was the club that was showing strong interest in him.

Robben endured a frustrating season with Bayern as he struggled with numerous injuries. There was a strong chance that his career in Bavaria ended without a farewell appearance. His hard work eventually came to fruition as he came back to play in the last couple of games the Bundesliga campaign.

Earlier this week, SportBild reported that Robben has not yet completely recovered from this injury. This report didn’t rule out the possibility of Robben hanging his boots due to this injury. He might struggle to play in top leagues due to injury.

A move away from Europe will be best for Robben. He will be getting a decent amount of gametime plus the intensity will be lesser compared to other top clubs. This will reduce the chances of him getting injured on a regular basis. Robben has previously been against a move to Asia or USA but right now those are the best destinations for him to extend his career.
