Bayern Munich are reportedly considering Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco as a transfer candidate in case they cannot secure Leroy Sane this summer.
With the international games over, European clubs are free to begin making moves for their various transfer targets. Bayern Munich have already confirmed the signings of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard, and the German giants will now put all their efforts into signing a top class winger.
Leroy Sane has emerged as the top transfer target for Bayern Munich. The German club has declared their interest in signing the 23-year-old winger. However, the club chiefs are pessimistic about completing the deal due to the high fee that will undoubtedly be demanded by Manchester City.
The Bavarians will have to look at other alternatives if they fail to sign Sane from Man City. Timo Werner and Nicolas Pepe have been heavily linked with Bayern in the past two weeks. The club is reportedly negotiating with Pepe and Lille, while Werner only wants to join Bayern if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer. Yannick Carrasco is now the latest winger linked with a move to Bayern.

According to Sport Bild, Bayern have identified Carrasco as a possible alternative to Sane. The Belgian international is currently playing for Dalian Yifang, but Carrasco recently admitted that he wants to return to Europe this summer. The Chinese club wants a fee in the region of €30 million for the winger. Bayern will face strong competition from Arsenal for the Belgian winger.
Carrasco has been previously linked with Bayern. The Belgian winger was one of the most exciting prospects in Europe a few years ago, but his move to Atletico Madrid didn’t go as he had planned. He struggled to deliver consistent performances at the Spanish club and was eventually sold to Dalian Yifang. Carrasco has done fairly well in China this season, scoring seven goals and grabbing two assists in 19 games (via Whoscored).
Sport Bild‘s report also gives a brief update on Bayern’s pursuit of Sane. The German winger is yet to make a firm decision on his future. Sane’s family is pushing for a move back to the Bundesliga, while his representatives want him to sign a new contract at Manchester City. The winger also remained tight-lipped about his future after Germany’s win over Estonia.
The Bundesliga champions will be hoping that Sane makes up his mind about his future soon. The Bavarians will be able to move on to their other targets if the German international decides to stay at Man City. Carrasco is a decent winger, but there are doubts about whether he can prosper at a top European club. It will be a huge surprise if Die Roten make a move for the Belgian when players like Werner and Pepe are available this summer.
