Bayern Munich winger Alphonso Davies is not worried about competition for places in attack next season, even if Leroy Sane does change clubs.

There will be numerous changes made to the Bayern Munich squad this summer. The German club is looking to add young players to the spine of their squad after the departures of numerous senior players. Bayern are focusing on building a team that will be able to satisfy both their short and long term goals.

The two key areas of the squad that need immediate addressing are defense and attack. Bayern have already made a couple of signings to address their defensive woes, but they are yet to find a proper breakthrough in their pursuit of attacking players.

Die Roten will have more options in the wider areas next season, but competition for places in the starting lineup is not exactly worrying Alphonso Davies. Speaking to Bild (via Goal), Davies recently admitted that he is not concerned about the club’s search of a new winger. The Canadian insists that he is progressing well and the club will remain patient with his development.

"“There’s no pressure whatsoever from the club. They want to build me up, that I get my game time and that I get used to the league.“It’s difficult to come over from Canada as a youngster and play for one of the best teams in the world. They’re giving me all the time I need and their plan has been very good so far.”"

More from Bayern Strikes

Davies left Vancouver Whitecaps to join Bayern Munich in January despite the two clubs agreeing on a fee last summer. The Bundesliga champions had to beat Europe’s top clubs for his signature. Davies is yet to make a significant impact in the first team, but he was included in many matchday squads.

The 18-year-old winger managed to score his first competitive goal for Bayern against Mainz in March. Davies made six appearances for the first team but featured regularly for the reserves.

In his interview, the Canada international also heaped praise on Bayern target Leroy Sane. Davies believes that he could learn a lot from a player like Sane if he moves to Bavaria this summer.

Bayern’s chiefs are currently pessimistic about concluding a deal to sign Sane from Man City. Things will become more clear in the coming weeks as the international games will be over and Sane will have time to make a decision about his future.

Davies has a lot of potential, but he will need an adequate game time to continue his development. He will have a decent amount of opportunities next season despite being fourth choice winger at the club. If Bayern decide to invest in two top quality forwards, though, then Davies might have to look for a loan move to get regular minutes on the pitch.
