According to recent reports, Timo Werner only wants to leave RB Leipzig for Bayern Munich this summer.
Bayern Munich have been linked with numerous attacking players throughout the past year. The German club needs to add quality to the front area of the squad after the departures of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. After the international games are over, Bayern will surely take massive strides towards signing a forward.
Timo Werner is widely regarded as a key transfer target for Bayern Munich this summer. He is entering the final year of his contract at RB Leipzig. The German club has no plans of losing him on a free transfer, so they are ready to listen to offers for him this summer.
According to Bild, Werner would only leave Leipzig this summer if a move to Bayern becomes possible. The German striker is ready to see out his contract at Leipzig if Die Roten don’t make a move for him in the next couple of months. Leipzig want a fee in the region of €60 million for the 23-year-old striker.

This report once again reiterates that Bayern Munich are still prepared to wait for one more year to sign the player on a free transfer instead of meeting Leipzig’s transfer fee demands. The Bundesliga champions will possibly face competition from Liverpool for his signature this summer, but it has been previously reported that the Bavarians have already agreed personal terms with the German striker.
Werner has been widely regarded as the top German striker in the Bundesliga for the past three seasons. The Germany international was not at his best last season, but his numbers in the final third were still impressive. Moreover, he has shown for Germany that he can do a very good job on the left flank if needed. He will get ample game time on the flanks at Bayern and will also fill the role of backup striker to Robert Lewandowski.
Bayern Munich are still miles away from clinching the deal to sign their primary target, Leroy Sane, from Manchester City. Moreover, the latest reports from France suggest that they will face stiff competition for Lille’s Nicolas Pepe should they move for the Ivorian. Werner could turn out to be the cheapest of all the attackers linked with Bayern but has the potential to be as effective as both of those players.
If Werner remains determined to join only Bayern, then from a financial point of view it makes a lot of sense to wait til next summer. However, from a sporting point of view, Die Roten should try to sign Werner sooner rather than later. The German striker can help solve two important issues of the squad for a reasonable fee.
